 The figures exhibition and contest the “Open de Bretagne de la Figurine” will take place on 30 & 31 may 2009, at “L’Estuaire” hall in Couëron, near Nantes in Brittany (northern-western part of France).
The Open de Bretagne is an event organized by the “Chevaliers du Centaure” painting club every two years. In 2009 it will reach its 5^th anniversary.
Until now it had taken place in late september-early october, but this year, due to a busy schedule, it has been decided to have it earlier.

After Allan Carrasco in 2007, the Guest of Honour at the 2009 edition will be Benoit CAUCHIES. Sculptor undisputed talent, he has been working for the biggest figures manufacturers, like today Pegaso, since the 90’s.

The “Open de Bretagne” in figures : 500 pieces in competition, over 800 on exhibition, over 160 contestants from all over France and abroad and a thousand visitors over the week-end.
Professionals are also presents : figures and tools manufactures, specialized press, painting demonstrations,  etc…

Among the prizes given to the winners, there will be the awards realised by Greg Di Franco and offered by the club L.I.H.M.C.S. in Long Island (USA):

The official Figure  

Here is the “Open de Bretagne 2009” official figure, a little “korrigan” (a wooden elf, here in Brittany) asleep in a real nutshell. It’s entitled “Donan, the sleeping korrigan“. This figure has been sculpted by Jean-Marc Couëtoux, member of our club. 
This figure is based on the graphic universe of the french illustrator Jean-Baptiste Monge.
“Donan” is already available for sale at the price of 5 euros ! Postage is around 1,5 euro for European Union for 1 to 3 pieces. Just Contact us for assistance if you wish to buy it!The figures of the last editions are available on this page: click HERE You can see some pieces painted by modellers who have already bought it : click HEREIt’s also possible to ask it to the members of the club when they move in various national or international exhibitions (St-Vincent, Gerone, Ransart…). This figure will the 1st prize of a painting trophy at the Open de Bretagne 2009 : the figurines, which have gained and painted before the competition, will be in competition for a special trophy, called “the korrigan Trophy”. The winner will go with “Donan, the sleeping korrigan” figurine painted by the French Master Thomas DAVID   , also member of our club.

The competition called “slow painting” will seek to paint the figure during the weekend. The 1st prize win the figurine painted by Jean-Marc, wich you can see pictured here.
